INVESTING IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

The NJWP represents a once-in-a-generation economic injection in Salem County and the wider Southern New Jersey region, with over $637 million invested in the project to date.

NJEDA is focused on maximizing opportunities for local workers and businesses. To this end, a significant share of the construction work underway is being performed by businesses from Salem County or the wider Southern New Jersey region. Construction will be ongoing until at least 2027.

But the true benefits for the local community will be felt once the Port is operational. At full-scale, the NJWP will support around 1,500 ongoing manufacturing, stevedoring and operations jobs.

Through its nationally recognized Wind Institute, and in partnership with local stakeholders including Salem County, Lower Alloways Creek Township and the City of Salem, NJEDA is focused on creating jobs pathways for the local community. The Wind Institute has provided funding to Gloucester County Institute of Technology (GCIT), Salem County Vocational Technical School, Camden County Technical Schools, and Camden County College to support the expansion of welding and painting programs to prepare workers to fabricate large-scale monopiles, which are used as the foundation of offshore wind turbines.
